Jesus is a Person of Interest - Part 4

Select Dynamic field

July 31, 2022

We continued on with Person of Interest, J. Warner Wallace's excellent book about looking at Jesus as a Person of Interest in today's world.  Today we did an overview of the fuses that lead up to Jesus and their starting and ending parameters.  We showed how there was a narrow window of opportunity for the Person of Interest (Christ) to appear to us on earth.

Next week we start to examine the "Fallout" that occurred when Jesus came to earth!

We continue to pray that you will invite Jesus into your life and make Him Lord of your life, if you haven't already.
And if you need to take care of this please call Pastor Harvey at 323-316-7131 and he will be glad to pray with you.

After singing a few songs, then as a congregation we read together aloud the following reading from Acts 3.

Acts 3:13-26
New American Standard Bible
(Peter's Second Sermon after Pentecost)

13 The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus, the one whom you handed over and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him.

14 But you disowned the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,

15 but put to death the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses.

16 And on the basis of faith in His name, it is the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.

17 “And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, just as your rulers also did.

18 But the things which God previously announced by the mouths of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer, He has fulfilled in this way.

19 Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord;

20 and that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you,

21 whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things, about which God spoke by the mouths of His holy prophets from ancient times.

22 Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your countrymen; to Him you shall listen regarding everything He says to you.

23 And it shall be that every soul that does not listen to that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’

24 And likewise, all the prophets who have spoken from Samuel and his successors onward, have also announced these days. "

25 It is you who are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God ordained with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’

26 God raised up His Servant for you first, and sent Him to bless you by turning every one of you from your wicked ways.”

Person of Interest: Why Jesus Still Matters in a World that Rejects the Bible

“If Jesus was truly the smartest, most interesting, and most transformative man who ever lived—if he was truly God—we ought to be able to make a case for his existence and impact, even without a body or any evidence from the New Testament. When our investigation is complete, we’ll determine if Jesus matters. We’ll discover if he was a work of fiction, just another ancient sage, or history’s uniquely divine person of interest.”

Again, Denise and I are available for prayer.
