After singing a few songs, then as a congregation we read together aloud the following scripture...

I Corinthians 15:39-50

39 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one flesh of mankind, another flesh of animals, another flesh of birds, and another of fish.

40 There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is one, and the glory of the earthly is another.

41 There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body;

43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;

44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

45 So also it is written: “The first man, Adam, became a living person.” The last Adam was a life-giving spirit.

46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual.

47 The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven.

48 As is the earthy one, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly one, so also are those who are heavenly.

49 Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image of the heavenly.

50 Now I say this, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

Here is the text from the sermon.   We used many verses from Job 38-42.

Job 38:1-7 NASB

[1] Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind and said,

[2] "Who is this that darkens counsel By words without knowledge?

[3] "Now gird up your loins like a man, And I will ask you, and you instruct Me!

[4] "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding,

[5] Who set its measurements? Since you know. Or who stretched the line on it?

[6] "On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone,

[7] When the morning stars sang together And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Job 38:8-11 NASB

[8] "Or who enclosed the sea with doors When, bursting forth, it went out from the womb;

[9] When I made a cloud its garment And thick darkness its swaddling band,

[10] And I placed boundaries on it And set a bolt and doors,

[11] And I said, 'Thus far you shall come, but no farther; And here shall your proud waves stop'?

Job 38:21 NASB

[21] "You know, for you were born then, And the number of your days is great!

Job 38:31-33 NASB

[31] "Can you bind the chains of the Pleiades, Or loose the cords of Orion?

[32] "Can you lead forth a constellation in its season, And guide the Bear with her satellites?

[33] "Do you know the ordinances of the heavens, Or fix their rule over the earth?

Job 40:1-5 KJV

[1] Moreover the Lord answered Job, and said,

[2] Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him?  he that reproveth God, let him answer it.

[3] Then Job answered the Lord, and said,

[4] Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.

[5] Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

Job 42:1-6 NASB

[1] Then Job answered the LORD and said,

[2] "I know that You can do all things, And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.

[3] 'Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?' Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know."

[4] 'Hear, now, and I will speak; I will ask You, and You instruct me.'

[5] "I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; But now my eye sees You;

[6] Therefore I retract, And I repent in dust and ashes."

Charles Spurgeon

Theologian

“Doth not all nature around me praise God?  If I were silent, I should be an exception to the universe.  Doth not the thunder praise Him as it rolls like drums in the march of the God of armies?  Do not the mountains praise Him when the woods upon their summits wave in adoration?  Does not the lightning write His name in letters of fire?  Hath not the whole earth a voice?  And shall I, can I, silent be?”
