Sara was a great woman of faith. She is listed in "The Great Faith" chapter of Hebrews,
Hebrews 11:11-12
11 By faith even Sarah herself received ability to conceive, even beyond the proper time of life, since she considered Him faithful who had promised.
12 Therefore even from one man, and one who was as good as dead at that, there were born descendants who were just as the stars of heaven in number, and as the innumerable grains of sand along the seashore.
This week we continued with our sermon series, Portraits of Bible Characters. We studied Sarah this week.in Genesis 18:10-14, 12:1-8 and Hebrews 11:11-12- Sarah: Faith for the Impossible. As we progress through this series, let us keep at the forefront of our minds that God is PERFECT and ALWAYS GOOD, yet He uses imperfect, flawed human beings to accomplish His perfect will.
So we will not just look at all the "good" traits of these characters, but also their sinful traits as well. And we will discover that God can make "good stuff" out of flawed people.
We pray that you will invite Jesus into your life and make Him Lord of your life. If you need to pray about this with someone please call Pastor Harvey at 323-316-7131 and he will be glad to pray with you.

Faith is the Victory

After singing a few songs, then as a congregation we read together aloud the following scripture...
Hebrews 11:1-16
1 Now faith is the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen.
2 For by it the people of old gained approval.
3 By faith we understand that the world has been created by the word of God so that what is seen has not been made out of things that are visible.
4 By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, through which he was attested to be righteous, God testifying about his gifts, and through faith, though he is dead, he still speaks.
5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he would not see death; and he was not found because God took him up; for before he was taken up, he was attested to have been pleasing to God.
6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for the one who comes to God must believe that He exists, and that He proves to be One who rewards those who seek Him.
7 By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going out to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he left, not knowing where he was going.
9 By faith he lived as a stranger in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise;
10 for he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
13 All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen and welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.
14 For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a country of their own.
15 And indeed if they had been thinking of that country which they left, they would have had opportunity to return.
16 But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for He has prepared a city for them.

Genesis 18-21 - Sarah; Faith in the Impossible
Albert Faust
Here is the text - Sarah: Faith for the Impossible
Genesis 18:10-14 - Sarah Laughs
10 He said, “I will certainly return to you at this time next year; and behold, your wife Sarah will have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door, which was behind him.
11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in age; Sarah was past childbearing.
12 So Sarah laughed to herself, saying, “After I have become old, am I to have pleasure, my lord being old also?”
13 But the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I actually give birth to a child, when I am so old?’
14 Is anything too difficult for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, at this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”
Genesis 21:1-8 - Isaac is Born
1 Then the Lord took note of Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had promised.
2 So Sarah conceived and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him.
3 Abraham named his son who was born to him, the son whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac.
4 Then Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.
5 Now Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.
6 Sarah said, “God has made laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh with me."
7 And she said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have given birth to a son in his old age.”
8 And the child grew and was weaned, and Abraham held a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.
Hebrews 11:11-12
Sarah is Mentioned in the "Faith" Chapter of Hebrews
