December 11, 2022

Christmas is the announcement of the Savior.

This announcement brings GREAT JOY, not temporal but eternal JOY!
This joy comes from knowing that God is righteous and that He keeps His promises. This joy comes from KNOWING that God loves you and wants a permanent relationship with you!

We at Highland Park Christian Church hope that you have that JOY and that it will last ALL year in 2023 and beyond!

Galatians 4:4-5 - (NASB)
4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,

5 so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons and daughters.

We pray that you will invite Jesus into your life and make Him Lord of your life.  If you need to pray about this with someone please call Pastor Harvey at 323-316-7131 and he will be glad to pray with you.

After singing a few songs, then as a congregation we read together aloud the following scripture...

Psalm 98:1-6 (KJV)
Joy

1 O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvelous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

2 The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.

3 He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

4 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

5 Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.

6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord, the King.

Christmas Playlist - Week 3-Joy to the World
Pastor Harvey

Here is the text from the sermon -
Psalm 98:1-6 (KJV), Numbers 11:1-5 (NASB), Genesis 12:1-3 (NASB), Romans 1:17,
Job 1:1, Job 1:8, Job 2:10, Romans 5:17-18

Numbers 11:1-5 (NASB)
The People Complain

1 Now the people became like those who complain of adversity in the ears of the Lord; and the Lord heard them and His anger was kindled, and the fire of the Lord burned among them and consumed some at the outskirts of the camp.

2 The people then cried out to Moses; and Moses prayed to the Lord, and the fire died out.

3 So that place was named Taberah, because the fire of the Lord burned among them.

4 Now the rabble who were among them had greedy cravings; and the sons of Israel also wept again and said, “Who will give us meat to eat?

5 We remember the fish which we used to eat for free in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic;

Genesis 12:1-3 (NASB)
Abram Journeys to Egypt
1 Now the Lord said to Abram,
“Go from your country,
And from your relatives
And from your father’s house,
To the land which I will show you;

2 And I will make you into a great nation,
And I will bless you,
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing;

3 And I will bless those who bless you,
And the one who curses you I will curse.
And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

Romans 1:17
17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written: “But the righteous one will live by faith.”

Job 1:1
1 There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil.

Job 1:8
8 The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.

Job 2:10
10 But he said to her, “You are speaking as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we actually accept good from God but not accept adversity?” Despite all this, Job did not sin with his lips.

Psalm 98:2
2 The Lord has made His salvation known;
He has revealed His righteousness in the sight of the nations.

Romans 5:17-18
17 For if by the offense of the one, death reigned through the one, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

18 So then, as through one offense the result was condemnation to all mankind, so also through one act of righteousness the result was justification of life to all mankind.
