Jeremiah is told to go to the potter's house and get a word from God. So he does. In today's message we look at the comparisons between God/Man and Potter/Clay.

And Now It's Time to Worship Christ
All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name
Let's Just Praise the Lord
Artist: Don Marsh
After singing a few songs, then as a congregation we read together aloud the following scripture...
Jeremiah 36:23-24,27-32 NASB
23 When Jehudi had read three or four columns, the king cut it with a scribe's knife and threw it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the scroll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.
24 Yet the king and all his servants who heard all these words were not afraid, nor did they rend their garments.
27 Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah after the king had burned the scroll and the words which Baruch had written at the dictation of Jeremiah, saying,
28 "Take again another scroll and write on it all the former words that were on the first scroll which Jehoiakim the king of Judah burned.
29 And concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah you shall say, 'Thus says the LORD, "You have burned this scroll, saying, 'Why have you written on it that the king of Babylon will certainly come and destroy this land, and will make man and beast to cease from it?'"
30 Therefore thus says the LORD concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah, "He shall have no one to sit on the throne of David, and his dead body shall be cast out to the heat of the day and the frost of the night.
31 I will also punish him and his descendants and his servants for their iniquity, and I will bring on them and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and the men of Judah all the calamity that I have declared to them-but they did not listen."'"
32 Then Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to Baruch the son of Neriah, the scribe, and he wrote on it at the dictation of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and many similar words were added to them.
Have Thine Own Way, Lord
Artist: Adelaide Pollard
Adelaide Pollard was at a prayer meeting in the early 1900's when an elderly lady, instead of asking for blessings from the Lord, prayed "It doesn't matter what You bring into our lives, Lord. Just have Your own way with us."
This phrase rang so clearly in her mind that, before she was even home for the evening, several of the verses had formed in her mind. When she got home, she completed the verses for the hymn. This is one of the hardest things to do - to allow God to have His way with us. We so love our own way and usually believe it is the best way for us. But when we are truly a Christian, we must have faith that God's way is what is best for us. May He help us all to allow Him to have His own way in our lives.
Jeremiah Part 6
Jeremiah 18 - The Potter, Clay and Messianic Prophecies
I Raise a Hallelujah
Artist: Bethel Music, Jonathan & Melissa Helser
Here is the text from the sermon.
Jeremiah 15:1-4 NASB
Jeremiah 18:1-12 - The Potter and the Clay
The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD saying,
"Arise and go down to the potter's house, and there I will announce My words to you."
Then I went down to the potter's house, and there he was, making something on the wheel.
But the vessel that he was making of clay was spoiled in the hand of the potter; so he remade it into another vessel, as it pleased the potter to make.
Then the word of the LORD came to me saying,
"Can I not, O house of Israel, deal with you as this potter does?" declares the LORD. "Behold, like the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel.
 At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to uproot, to pull down, or to destroy it;
if that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent concerning the calamity I planned to bring on it.
 Or at another moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to build up or to plant it;
if it does evil in My sight by not obeying My voice, then I will think better of the good with which I had promised to bless it.
So now then, speak to the men of Judah and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem saying, 'Thus says the LORD, "Behold, I am fashioning calamity against you and devising a plan against you. Oh turn back, each of you from his evil way, and reform your ways and your deeds."'
But they will say, 'It's hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.'
The death of Christ, the lamb of sacrifice, and the Eucharist
Jn 1:29, 36; Acts 8:32; 1 Pt 1:19; Rev 5:6, 12-13
But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter; And I did not know that they had devised plots against me, saying, "Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, And let us cut him off from the land of the living, That his name be remembered no more."
Davidic "Branch" and "Yahweh-is-our-Saving-Justice"/ "Lord of Righteousness"
Jer 23:5, 6Jn 2:19-21; Rom 1:3-4; Eph 2:20-21; 1 Pt 2:5
I will also raise up shepherds over them and they will tend them; and they will not be afraid any longer, nor be terrified, nor will any be missing," declares the LORD.
"Behold, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "When I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and act wisely And do justice and righteousness in the land.
"In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell securely; And this is His name by which He will be called, 'The Lord our righteousness.'
Will be born a king and descendant of David
Lk 1:32-33; Jn 18:37; Rev 1:5
But they shall serve the LORD their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.
The massacre of infants
Thus says the LORD, "A voice is heard in Ramah, Lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel is weeping for her children; She refuses to be comforted for her children, Because they are no more."
The Incarnation: "something new on earth"
Mt 1:20; Lk 1:35
"How long will you go here and there, O faithless daughter? For the LORD has created a new thing in the earth- A woman will encompass a man."
A New Covenant
Mt 26:27-29; Mk 14:22-24; Lk 22:15-20; 1Cor 11:25; Heb 8:8-12; 10:15-17; 12:24; 13:20
The Gospel of salvation and the forgiveness of sins
Mt 26:26-28; Heb 10:16-18; 1 Jn 2:27
"Behold, days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,
not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them," declares the LORD.
"But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days," declares the LORD, "I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them," declares the LORD, "for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."
The coming of the Davidic Messiah
Mt 1:1-17; 16:18; Mk 1:1; Lk 1:31-33; Jn 1:32-33, 41
In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch of David to spring forth; and He shall execute justice and righteousness on the earth. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will dwell in safety; and this is the name by which she will be called: the Lord is our righteousness.'
They will ask for the way to Zion, turning their faces in its direction; they will come that they may join themselves to the LORD in an everlasting covenant that will not be forgotten.

J. Vernon McGee
"It is impossible for an unsaved person to do good. All of the do–gooders are not really pleasing God. Until a man does his work in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and for His glory and honor, he is simply doing the work for himself for selfish reasons. No genuine goodness can come out of an evil heart."
Again, Denise and I are available for prayer.
